‘Cause this world’s too stressful My Cock does vinyasa, keeps it calm It keeps it from getting A Cock heart attack If it’s relaxed I need tantric sex, doll Need karate poses out on the deck Fighting all of my demons Fighting all of the evil of the world My Cock does jazz fusion Keeps it well-read, it keeps the dinner parties Ending in my bed Ride the blue turtle with me, won't ya, girl? Tiny Buddhas enlighten Humming mantras, yeah they’re coming for you We need New-Age music There’s no rock and roll blues for this desert cruise OH-Oh-oh OH-Oh-oh OH-Oh-oh Blue Turtle! My Cock looks like Play-Doh From fucking too much, fuck-ing too much My Cock is enlightened, my cock is so wise Cock needs a crutch Will you still be my Durga? My multi-limbed queen, my sexy dream? Making transcendent sweet love, Making love ‘til my cock turns black and green! OH-Oh-oh OH-Oh-oh OH-Oh-oh Blue Turtle!

Eugene 04:31
Kiss me eye to eye New York blackout night Roses carried for me Thorns dig sweet in your seams Remember to breathe If we tried again If you let me in Would you set me free I'm on my way, Eugene Warm Eugene Don't let me fall Colored ripped-up heel Black and blue, we're still Though the years did fade The Brooklyn heart remains Lovers stay the same I still feel that night In the cell phone light Please ask, don’t scream I'm on my way, Eugene Cold Eugene Don't let me fall Love was all around When they put you in the ground And you left me They say love was all around When you put me in the ground And you left me Why'd you leave me? Eugene?

The smell of latex Or is it just 21st-century dread? What do I say next When I can’t tell if it’s in my head? So I shut up and try to sleep Keep my chin tucked in like a dying church mouse Wikipedia these movies, but can’t go too deep ‘Cause I saw Michael Myers standing outside my house Went to the office Some guy had a seizure on the express train And I just lost it He wore karate headgear to protect his brain I got no work done Wasted my whole day reading about climate change Reload my staple gun To keep my sight on white light in the target’s range Then at home, he was behind the hedge Hands on leaves that were dead and brown We’re all just pirouetting on the butcher knife’s edge And I saw Michael Myers standing outside my house So I shut up and try to sleep Keep my chin tucked in like a dying church mouse Wikipedia these movies, but can’t go too deep And I saw Michael Myers standing outside my house He’s at the staircase He’s in the kitchen, can’t see his eyes He’s at the front door He’s in the backyard while the laundry dries Then at home, he was behind the hedge Hands on leaves that were red and brown We’re all just pirouetting on the butcher knife’s edge And I saw Michael Myers standing outside my house So I shut up and try to sleep Keep my chin tucked in like a dying church mouse I Wikipedia these movies, but can’t go too deep And I saw Michael Myers standing outside my house

Ghost 03:00
Watch that handle, no, I'm sure it's alive Its lips parted, pouring over hope and of a new life Turned a shoulder, turned a blind eye Still the chains are sinking deep They've caught my breath, they've caught my soul this time Floating through the city, holding your hand I feel a burning in my heart, one day you'll understand I don't need another specter, need another vision Oh yeah she's losing it, oh yeah, you know I've lost total control Even in dreams, I can still hear you shout You're always letting them in, you're always letting them in And one day, I'm sure we'll figure this out But your ghost is always haunting, ghost is always haunting this house I found some letters, found some faded tapes Nostalgia sets in, searching for a stand-up for a lost date Clinging to the sting of a familiar apparition Living a sin, living a lie, I hope you return! Only in dreams, I can still hear you shout You're always letting them in, you're always letting them in And one day, you'll revisit this house! But your ghost is always haunting, ghost is always haunting me now Faded motions, faded tunes Leading me back, leading me back, leading me back to you Christmas present, gone too soon Leading me back, leading me back, leading me back to you Watch the handle, I'm sure it's alive But the chains are sinking deep, they've caught my soul this time And it's bringing me back, bringing me back, back to you

Catherine 03:51
Catherine, won't you talk to me? Catherine, won't you talk to me? Catherine, won't you dance for me? Catherine, won't you sing to me? When will you say hello? When will you say hello? When will you let me know? Pull my wings, I'll be your butterfly To drink your blue, I would gladly die Let me play for you the midnight sky Catherine darling, don't you cry When will you say hello? When will you say hello? When will you let me know? "How exactly do you know a lady fancies you? She moves in that peculiar way, smiles at you Laughs at what you say Maybe undoes that top button on her shirt, right? "Well, think about me doing all of that right now Exactly where you are now What’s your next move gonna be, big guy? You can trust me "Nobody is going to learn anything Of course you can cry underwater, Terry I pulled a fly’s wings and still called it a fly"

Terry 01:58
Terry! You were an okay at best, they put your will to the test Oh yeah, you were good You could have played with the rest, you’re playing covers of “Beth” Oh no! I hear the clock, it’s ticking I hope that there’s still time But it’s just pop-star business I’m slowly losing my mind You bang your head ‘gainst the amp your parents bought second hand Oh man, what a drag Nobody said this was it, you never could give a shit Your time has come, and you know that you’re done! I don’t see your face anymore The session’s over, it’s true I hear your voice, it’s sickening You know I’ll sell out for you! Here we go! Bobby! You’re such a dick Bobby! Now where’s the bathroom? I feel fucking sick Terry!

Madcaps 04:48
I tend to take the habit of overdrive I might just bash my head in Pavement from skyline The night terrors flood from A fog and bloody haze I'm scared and running From who, I cannot say Let's have another nightmare I take you in I shove you back down But you still fuck with me somehow I hear your sounds But you get me somehow My little Madcaps, Madcaps Running all around So many lovers run Why did I let them get away? I want to eat them alive Then maybe they'd understand me I'm so good at heart Remember the happy me? After a day of dark You'd rather laugh and yell at me Let's have another nightmare I take you in I shove you back down But you still fuck with me somehow I hear your sounds But you get me somehow My little Madcaps, Madcaps Running all around Madcaps, Madcaps Running all around

Bug Powder 03:19
A safe nest to call my own The old emptiness Where i feel the flood Runs cool into my veins I'm an addict now I'm an addict now Restlessness inside my soul It's a terrible feeling I can't call this home Blame, blame on everything we've known And all the futures Though we've yet to cast that stone Are you in, are you out? I'm an addict now I'm an addict now Dear Joan, you've been a lousy lover But a wonderful friend Through and through, I've been able to use you But this has to end I think a shot to the head will do the trick I don't really even have to talk you into it Just think, you'll see the great unknown Now, is this a bad omen? Or is this a bad joke? Are you in, are you out? I'm an addict now I'm an addict now Are you in are you out? I'm an addict now I'm an addict now

We went into the desert to find a band name I said “Couldn’t we have done this at home?” You said “No, man, it takes a desert to find a band name It takes spelling out words in jackal’s bones” We were wandering through the desert in search of a band name But we couldn’t find any jackal’s bones And I could still see the highway, and that depressed me I said “I don’t know, fellas, I think we should’ve stayed home” You said “Take this button, man, and drink this tea We’ll get a nice fire going to blacken the moon” I said “I don’t know, man, I’m feeling pretty thirsty And I’d like to get going, going real soon” We never found any jackal’s bones to build a band name So we took apart a tumbleweed, used that instead And Randy left the fucking peyote in the glovebox, man So we took apart a cactus fruit, ate that instead We didn’t get high We just got kind of sick So many types of sick, sick in the head And our search for a band name was already dead

about

All four members of Chicago rock outfit The Elizabeth Dane are pop-culture obsessives, and on their second album, Paradising Bridge, their love of classic rock, horror movies, and literature becomes a running theme. But the songs aren't merely fan tributes to extant works of art. Rather, each track uses a different musician, genre film, or novel as a springboard to explore a variety of topics. On opener "Blue-Turtle Yoga", the band slinks into a faux-reggae groove as guitarist/vocalist McKenzie Gerber imagines Gordon Sumner (a.k.a. Sting) slowly losing his mind in an incoherent haze of yoga, social crusading, and tantric sex. Later on, lead guitarist/vocalist Jon Patrick Penick casts the specter of Syd Barrett over the 9-to-5 office grind ("Madcaps"), and bassist/vocalist Dan Caffrey sees the serial killer from the Halloween films as a personification of existential dread ("I Saw Michael Myers Standing Outside My House"). KISS, the Eagles, A Christmas Carol, and Naked Lunch also figure into the lyrics.

Because of these diverse pop-culture roots, Paradising Bridge is a record brimming with more hooks, humor, and major chords than its gloomier predecessor, 2014's Into The Thinny. The fact that it was recorded live in one day by drummer Mae Shults (who also mixed and produced the album) also contributes to the LP's loose, spirited atmosphere. Pop culture is The Elizabeth Dane's passion. It is their joy. It is their paradise.
